Don't allow the feelings, emotions and intense energies get stuck in your body.

When we let ourselves feel, process, and move through, we give permission for our nervous system to reset and come down from "high alert".

This is important not only for our physical health, but also our mental, emotional and spiritual health as well!

The feelings, emotions and thoughts might (will likely) return and that is OK, normal, and typical.

HOWEVER, when we have done the work to sit with ourselves and our emotions previously, AND have allowed ourselves to move through - each event will be *at least* a little less impactful on your body systems!

This doesn't mean we care less...We are building our resilience, and will be able to take action and/or speak from a place of power, clarity and cohesion. We are able to be more decisive, loving and compassionate.

Really, it doesn't matter. They all bring their own inherent value and unique flavors. They are all wonderful in their own right.

Some people will love you and some won't, you can't be everyone's flavor of choice - just like you no doubt have a favorite flavor yourself.

Comparing your flavors to someone else's just doesn't help anyone. We all have limitations and exceptional qualities.

"CREME BRULE CAN NEVER BE JELL-O! (and, JELL-O can never be creme brule) So stop lamenting over something that you'll never be and learn to love who you are!

Of course, we can all strive to be the best creme brule, JELL-O, pecan pie and brownie a la mode that we can be...just take a pause and radically accept you for who you are.

“my brain and heart divorced a decade ago over who was
to blame about how big of a mess I have become

eventually, they couldn't be
in the same room with each other

now my head and heart share custody of me

I stay with my brain during the week and my heart
gets me on weekends

they never speak to one another
- instead, they give me
the same note to pass
to each other every week

and their notes they
send to one another always
says the same thing:

"This is all your fault"

on Sundays my heart complains
about how my head has let me down in the past

and on Wednesday my head lists all of the times my heart has screwed things up for me
in the future

they blame each other for the
state of my life there's been a lot
of yelling - and crying

so,
lately, I've been spending a lot of
time with my gut

who serves as my
unofficial therapist

most nights, I sneak out of the
window in my ribcage and slide down my spine and collapse on my gut's plush leather chair
that's always open for me

~ and I just sit sit sit sit
until the sun comes up

last evening,
my gut asked me if I was having a hard time being caught
between my heart and my head

I nodded

I said I didn't know
if I could live with
either of them anymore

"my heart is always sad about
something that happened yesterday while my head is always worried about something that may happen tomorrow,"
I lamented

my gut squeezed my hand

"I just can't live with
my mistakes of the past
or my anxiety about the future,"
I sighed

my gut smiled and said:

"in that case, you should go stay with your lungs for a while,"

I was confused
- the look on my face gave it away

"if you are exhausted about
your heart's obsession with
the fixed past and your mind's focus on the uncertain future
your lungs are the perfect place for you there is no yesterday in your lungs there is no tomorrow there either

there is only now
there is only inhale
there is only exhale
there is only this moment

there is only breath

and in that breath
you can rest while your
heart and head work
their relationship out."

The topic of cultural appropriation has come up often around cacao, with some people expressing that they feel only indigenous people should work with cacao and ceremonies.
For us the most important thing, is that people respect the cacao and of course that people respect and honor the ancestral guardians of this plant.
Cacao is an active plant spirit medicine, meant for deep healing.

The women at @rukuxulew don’t believe that only indigenous people should make cacao ceremonies. If someone is touched by the cacao spirit to be inspired to heal others, then it doesn’t matter what their origin is. 💓💓💓

We imagine that the people serving cacao must have a strong relationship and connection the cacao to be serving it, we trust this. 🙏🏾

Why else would they start serving it in ceremonies? Each person working with her must have been communicating with her.
As an example if you like an instrument or piece of music, if you’re not touched by it then you don’t know how to play it or share it, but because you have been touched by it, you can share it’s music, it’s the same with the cacao.

It’s important to check the origins of where you’re cacao comes from, who is it benefitting? Are the funds going to directly back to the indigenous people? Ethical sourcing for the cacao is an important part of the conversation around cultural appropriation.
